History. Culture. Beaches. Golf
What else could you ask for in a holiday or short break?
All our homes are located within five minutes of Lagos which is one of the Algarve's most popular holiday destinations. This once ancient port city boasts some of the area's best beaches and the resorts of Praia da Luz and the fishing villages of Burgau and Salema, together with many isolated coves are within 15 minutes of our homes.
There is much to do apart from beaches (and golf!). In Lagos, wandering through its cobbled, traffic free, streets is a pleasure in itself. Of particular note to visit is the Customs House, home to Europe's first slave market dating back to 1441, and the beautiful church of Igreja de Santo Antonio restored in 1715 and decorated with fantasy-inspired carvings. The municipal museum in the town houses an interesting and varied collection from Roman artefacts to deformed animal foetuses.
Also near to hand is the nearby fishing port of Portimao which offers not only great sardines but great shopping too, as do Lagos and the new shopping Centre at Guia (which is about thirty minutes away).
Eating out is easy - there are many good restaurants near to our homes and in the towns of Lagos and Praia da Luz - recommendations are available! The centre of Lagos itself comes alive in the evenings with buskers and street entertainers, and there are plenty of night clubs to keep the young - and young at heart - happy.
New for 2009: The Autodromo at Portimao is now open. Set to be Southern Europe's premier racing circuit, during 2009 there are various practice races with Ferrari racing, superbikes etc. Visit http://www.autodromodoalgarve.com/index for up to date information on one of the Algarve's most exciting events for visitors!
